MATERIALS
Organic cotton:
An ecologically friendly product, it is grown without pesticides, insecticides, or chemical fertilizers. It does not pollute or deplete the soil, and it protects the health of farmers.
Wax:
Wax is a waxed cotton fabric, known for its colorful patterns and shine, highly prized in Africa for its durability and cultural significance.
MANUFACTURING
Production :
Made in Morocco in Hicham and his father's workshop. This workshop is certified by an external body and complies with ILO (International Labor Organization) regulations.
This guarantees a code of social responsibility and ensures that the sneakers are manufactured in an environment where workers' rights are respected.
Dyeing and printing:
The organic cotton used is grown, woven and spun in Burkina Faso.
Different dyeing and printing techniques are used. The brand works with several partners in West Africa:
- Xoomba : The association promotes ethical textile production in Burkina Faso using organic cotton. It produces eco-friendly dyes, collaborates with artisans on mechanical looms without electricity, and employs mostly women at above-average wages. It also trains young seamstresses to maximize local added value.
- Uniwax : West African leader in wax printing, the company welcomes the brand to Abidjan each season to select the most beautiful patterns. The fabrics are coated with wax and then dyed using a specific process that guarantees very high color fastness. From the engraving of the copper cylinders to the dye baths, more than 20 steps are necessary to produce a pattern.
- L'atelier d'Ether : Small workshop north of Accra in which Esther, her daughter and their 4 employees create original designs and perpetuate a well-known skill in Ghana: artisanal batik printing.
